The Annual Conference of the International Theatre Institute Germany on the theme Conflict & Care: Transformative Conflict in the Performing Arts and Their Institutions addresses the transformative potential of conflict and explores perspectives and practices of care. It brings together the voices of transnational cultural workers and artists who, in various discussion formats, share their expertise with the audience and engage in debate: What conflict dynamics uphold power and dominance? How can new spaces be created and claimed from marginalized perspectives? How can responsibility and reparation be embedded within conflict?

In a panel discussion, Chiaki Soma, Mike van Graan, and Nora Amin—moderated by Melmun Bajarchuu—discuss the role of conflict in transformative processes. In two sessions featuring a total of seven roundtables, Alexandra Diaz Loo, Carole Karemera, Carolina Mendonça, Ferdaouss Adda, Gerald Odil, Koleka Putuma, and Tessa Hart share perspectives, questions, and methods of transformation and care.
