Next to individual research on approaches to and practices in dance dramaturgy, the Lab’s core focus is the exchange with the local dance scene. The Lab includes several formats for emerging dance dramaturgs to deepen their practices and for dance and performance artists to explore their work through the lens of dance dramaturgy.

This format is addressed to emerging and established dance dramaturgs who want to exchange ideas about dramaturgical practice in dance and analyze what is needed to foster dance dramaturgy in processes of dance making in Reykjavík.

#1 Dance Dramaturgy Lab – A deep dive

This workshop is addressed to emerging dance dramaturgs who want to deepen their practice by exchanging ideas with other dance dramaturgs and expand their skill set with additional methods and approaches to dance dramaturgy.

#2 Dance Dramaturgy Lab – An Introduction

The introductory workshop is especially addressed to all artists working in the field of dance and performance. More than just an introduction to dance dramaturgy, the workshop offers exercises to approach one’s own work through a dramaturgical lens.
